Terminology

Sound motif:
Introduces the character with sound and tells us something about that character.

Motivated cut:
Character is doing something that we have to follow.

Prominance:
Time on screen, who we are following in the story.

Diegetic:
A physical sound - a sound you can see.
e.g radio in a car - turning it up&down.

Non-diegetic
Sound you can't see
e.g Soundtrack
